I offer aerodynamic testing services for competitive cyclists in Southern California. Testing identifies specific drag reductions in position, equipment, and fit, giving you measurable speed gains without added training load.

Types of Aerodynamic Testing

San Diego Wind Tunnel Testing

The San Diego Wind Tunnel provides controlled, repeatable testing conditions for cyclists. The facility averages 29 years of aerospace engineering experience per team member and has tested over 500 cyclists. Wind tunnel testing produces precise CdA measurements and allows direct comparison of position changes, helmet choices, skinsuits, and wheel configurations.

ERO Testing at the Los Angeles Velodrome

ERO testing uses the Track Aero System to measure aerodynamic efficiency in real time while you ride. The system calculates your CdA (Coefficient of Drag Area) dynamically, making it possible to evaluate multiple positions in a single session. Testing takes place at the Los Angeles Velodrome.

Aerodynamic Field Testing

Field testing is suited for evaluating marginal changes, a new helmet, a different skinsuit, or a small positional adjustment, in real-world riding conditions. It accounts for variables that only manifest at race speed on actual roads.

Aero Testing and Coaching

I integrate aero testing data directly into your coaching program. Position changes that reduce drag are only useful when you can hold them under fatigue. I design training to build the specific strength and flexibility needed to sustain an optimized aero position through a race.

Who Benefits from Aero Testing

Aerodynamic testing is most valuable for time trialists, triathletes, and criterium riders where speed and positioning directly affect race outcomes. Athletes who already have a solid fitness base gain the most from marginal aerodynamic gains.
